photoblog image Floating...

Floating...

For quite a while from the South rim we enviously watched Turkey Vultures floating above the Grand Canyon , at times as many as fifteen of them.

On the far right of the North rim you can see smoke from the 'Ikes' wildfire which at the present time is covering 11,000 acres. Fortunately no property is threatened.

Un beau paysage impressionnant.
Frank L Croston.: That it is Martine, thanks.
it seems that though they are making the news more visibly, wildfires are so common the world over, Frank.
Frank L Croston.: Unfortunately they are Ayush, on a drive home last night we saw a new one, spectacular in the sunset, but worrying.
I love the colors and the comp - and the Turkey Vulture, of course!!
Frank L Croston.: Thank you Elizabeth.

I guess those big birds rule the roost hereabouts Frank. That fire looks quite dramatic even from a distance..
Frank L Croston.: Until a Condor shows up Chris, they make these look small ! Its quite a big fire, its been burning for sometime now.
Envious because you wanted to be floating above the canyon too, I'm sure, Frank, right?! It's in an image like this that you see how immense that wonder of the world really is!
Frank L Croston.: Who wouldn't want to eh Ginnie ? Thank you, its very difficult to convey the immensity.
Magnifique immensité !!
