Can you imagine a 1000 years ago this might have been a mighty river with lots of power going through these mountains. Again a grand view here, Frank.
Frank L Croston.: Well its one of the causes of the canyon Astrid, along with weather/erosion etc. Thanks.
A "river below" is always a bonus, Frank.
Frank L Croston.: Much better than one above you Ginnie smile

I wonder how high this river gets.
Frank L Croston.: Well it depends a lot on how much is released from the Glen canyon dam Andrew, quite a few miles away.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glen_Canyon_Dam
It is an almost alien landscape Frank
Frank L Croston.: I might have made it look that way Bill... Its very diverse.

The layers make such beautiful patterns - great.
Frank L Croston.: Thank you Louis.
It is a long way down.
Frank L Croston.: On one visit I saw a sign giving the depth below us and realised that you could drop Scafell Pike in there and be looking down on it...( Might be difficult to do that mind smile )
I like the light on the ridgelines and flats. Nicely done.
Frank L Croston.: Thanks Mary.
looks very frothy, Frank. exceptional view.
Frank L Croston.: Probably rapids at that point Ayush.

Amazing!
Frank L Croston.: Its hard to convey the size Anne, it struck me one day as we drove from the village which is sort of the centre of the South rim where most visitors arrive, that driving from one end of the South rim to the other end is about the distance from Blackpool to Lancaster.
A vertigo moment, its a hell of a long way down there Frank
Frank L Croston.: That it is Martin, you could drop Scafell Pike in there ( with some difficulty needless to say ) and look down on it.
