photoblog image The Black Canyon of the Gunnison.

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison.

I posted a photo of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison last week ( Mon' ) This is the other end of the canyon. Totally different, its a long steep drive down, ( for those who know, think Hardknott and Wrynose passes :-) ) but a blissfull place when you get to the bottom.

I believe I could easily enjoy spending an hour gazing at this scene, Frank.
Frank L Croston.: Thank you Ray. It was a wonderful place, I could have spent quite some time just watching the river flow.

Rivers like these are so peaceful, Frank. I imagine the trip going here as fabulous and short of eyes all the time. Did he catch anything?
Frank L Croston.: It was wonderful Astrid, so different from the other end of the canyon. I don't fish, but I could certainly see the attraction of it here.
Belle sérenité ...Merci
Frank L Croston.: Described perfectly, thank you Claudine.
It does look rather blissful Frank
Frank L Croston.: It most certainly was, Bill.

I did not realise that you could get down to the river. I wonder if the early explorers boated down the river and then gaped in awe as they got to the even steeper parts?
Frank L Croston.: We were told at the entrance. That would have been quite a trip down the river, certainly awesome!

i love the view of the slopes closing in from both sides, Frank.
Frank L Croston.: It was very deep canyon Ayush. Thanks.
What a lovely place to be, I know the drive down would put Maureen off if we were there, she didn't fancy Honister the other year and we had to turn round and go back through Seatoller.
Frank L Croston.: Oh it was, Brian. No, Maureen wouldn't have liked it.
