I had no idea what to expect when I went here. I almost didn't bother as it was raining and I thought about pressing on to my overnight stop in Gunnison itself. I'm glad I did, though; I thought I was used to big sights in the US but this took my breath away, as they say. It is an incredible sight. Ignoring the river and the cliff on the left, the rock wall could be a piece of artistic fabric.
Frank L Croston.: I was amazed by it Alan, what a place.I'm glad you didn't miss it. We drove down to the bottom as well which was just a wonderful peaceful place, I'll post some pics next week.

A sight to really please every Geology buff, just look at all those strata.
Frank L Croston.: Oh yes Brian, lots of geology of interest.
Nothing short of incredible Frank, dare I ask if this face is climbed, it looks nigh on impossible to me.
Frank L Croston.: It was an incredible place Martin, at the other end of the canyon you can drive to the bottom, a beautiful place. I don't know if climbing is allowed with it being a national park, and this is one of the main features.
Wow - that is as impressive as the Grand Canyon!
Frank L Croston.: Its quality not quantity with this place Tom, it is very impressive.
