great composition Frank... a million years or so ago... there was no scar there... the rock faces would fit together perfectly....petersmile
Frank L Croston.: Thanks, Peter, all done by water...

Sometimes I forget that in the UK you have many rocks like these. THIS is a beautiful picture. Is that a red and green coat, if so than that gives scale to this wonderful picture.
Frank L Croston.: Yes we do, not the biggest, but still impressive, yes it is a couple who just turned up at the right time, thanks, Astrid.
This shot shows, wonderfully, the size of the place! With little miss pink and mr green dwarfed by the cliff walls, the waterfalls looking like little trickles, and the ravens looking like specks in the sky!
Frank L Croston.: Thanks, Elizabeth, we found it on a good day!

Quite a Grand canyon, also, Frank.
Frank L Croston.: Not in stature maybe, Ray, but still a grand place.

The result of several million years of running water no doubt Frank?
Frank L Croston.: Not that long I believe, Chris, about 50,000 years, but I could be mistaken.
The tiny figures...don't you love people who wear red?...give scale to this great lump of rock
Frank L Croston.: Except for certain football supporters, Bill, otherwise yes..smile
I love the depth and perspective
Frank L Croston.: It has plenty of that, Chantal, thanks.

Great picture, the little figures certainly give the sense of scale in terms of both size and time scale
Frank L Croston.: Thank you, Anne, yes, it needed them there.
That is a big scar. No sticky plaster will fix this.
Frank L Croston.: It is, Mary, and no, it won't. smile

It's very impressive. I know its nowhere as big as some of the places you've seen in the US, but it is still very grand. I hear you didn't climb up the through the Scar.
Frank L Croston.: Yes, it is, Alan, I have climbed through it, but not this time, we weren't dressed for it, and it was very wet.
An area we've been to but not actually to this place, it is another of this countries wonders of nature. I trust Elizabeth is suitable impressed by our humble little country when you take her to places like this, we do it on a small scale over here.
Frank L Croston.: Oh she is, Brian, much like Elizabeth herself, small, but beautifully formed....smile

The two figures give the scale of this place Frank. What a fabulous place, I must visit one day.
Frank L Croston.: Yes it needed them, Andrew, you should, its a fine place with easy walks all around, and a good cafe in the village.
Not quite as impressive as the Grand Canyon - but quite something!
Frank L Croston.: In its own way, Tom, easier to grasp though...smile
