photoblog image Returning....

Returning....

The Navajo believe that when buildings are no longer used, they should return to the earth, this place is on its way...

I was told this by a native American gentleman, who was brought up in this house.

There must be a few old Navajo residences in Blackpool....

Nar...a nail here and there, a lick of paint, some new curtains...generations will live in it still, Frank.
Frank L Croston.: I'll leave you to it then, Ray, let me know when it's finished....smile
I think, only you, could treat this image so tenderly. And I'm glad you included the explanation. Yá'át'ééh

Frank L Croston.: Me, tenderly, smile Well it explained a lot to me. Though I have mixed thoughts on it.

I thought at first, Frank, that this must be the much vaunted Love Shack that Mick goes on about.

let sleeping huts lie
People have often asked why about the old building I have posted here over the years. Now I have the answer - not - since Navajos are way, way across the continent. Excellent shot!
Frank L Croston.: Yes, Mary, no Navajos around here, and yet....smile
The sagebrush, the hills in the distance, that marvelous sky and a collapsing building. What a fabulous image, Frank.

I'm a little surprised that the weathered boards of the building haven't been stripped and carted away by now.
Frank L Croston.: Thanks, Beverley, it may be the location,it was quite isolated.
What a real photographic find, it must have been quite a lonely and isolated place to live I guess.
Frank L Croston.: I guess it was, Brian, there was nothing for miles.
A fine picture Frank. I can think of a few places where I wouldn't mind seeing the buildings return to the earth
Frank L Croston.: Thanks, Bill, me too, I have a photo on that theme later.
A touch of hdr on this one would have been interesting!
Frank L Croston.: I'll try it some time,Tom.

i agree with their beliefs Frank... but i don't think it would work as well in the city...
i love this image and the house will return to nature... very gently....petersmile
Frank L Croston.: I have to agree,Peter, some of the rubbish left around this site is going to take a long time to return to the earth though,if it ever does.
