photoblog image Nearly there....

Nearly there....

Here is a clearer view than yesterdays pic'of the edge from the other end. On a different day of course.

The last bit of the ascent onto Helvellyn from Striding edge on a perfect winters day in Cumbria U.K.

The shadow is cast onto a completely frozen Red tarn.

What a beautiful image!
Frank L Croston.: Many thanks Ray.
Magnifique photo ! La pente est raide...
Frank L Croston.: Thank you Martine, very steep indeed !
It's so strange to me, Frank, to see that this is in the UK. I never expected that!
Frank L Croston.: Well we cant match the height of American/European peaks but what they lack in quantity they make up for in quality, and conditions can be equally demanding.

I assume this man knows what he is doing....when I look to right of him that is a slide down if he does not hold his grip... The view is wonderful here.
Frank L Croston.: I'm pretty sure he did Astrid. A great view on a perfect day.

Had to look up what a Red tarn is smile

Great picture of these people exerting themselves. There must be a heck of a good restaurant on top of Helvellyn - otherwise, why would they do it?
Frank L Croston.: Did you find out ? I just knew its name . All the good cafes are at the bottom Louis, but you have to earn it ! smile
stunning shot, Frank. also your effort is admirable.
Frank L Croston.: Thank you Ayush, thats much appreciated.
Best of the set so far Frank, a terrific picture, but I still wonder how people get the courage to do this especially in those conditions.
Frank L Croston.: Thank you very much Brian, its a favourite of mine. I never thought about having courage to do it, I just thought it was great fun and a wonderful experience.
A stunning image, Frank!
Frank L Croston.: Thanks very much Martin.
