The zoo must have been an important place during the war then. I must admit I do like finding old pillboxes, they make an interesting subject.
Frank L Croston.: Hi Les,During the war the site of the zoo was an airfield, and you can still see some of the old hangars, and buildings that have been incorporated into the zoo

My Dad was in the Home Guard, I just know he would have enjoyed the underlying joke here Frank.

He has that look! I recall my dad giving lessons in rifle shooting to the local HG, since he was the only one who had had any previous experience!
Frank L Croston.: I think this is a fitting tribute to them Tom, I'm sure they would have given their all if the need had arisen. Thank goodness it didn't.
