If you can't beat 'em...

In some shots they can be an asset, Frank, but they can also distract at times.. We have a similar challenge in Thailand where folks seem reluctant to put lines underground.
Frank L Croston.: Elizabeth tells me its due to rocky ground conditions here, Ray.

They've certainly got a different cable culture over there Frank. So as you say..
Frank L Croston.: I have to say, having worked on cable systems with poles and other stuff in my distant past, they do a good job. One thing that does surprise me is how low the main power lines on pylons are, even over main roads compared to the U.K.
Like Ray says, they work sometimes and distract sometimes.
Frank L Croston.: I've got used to it now, I even blend them in sometimes.
I get the impression from films and photos that int he cities poer cables are generally underground but away from them it is like this in most places which I find quite surprising.
Frank L Croston.: They are everywhere, Brian, compared to home its a mess, Elizabeth tells me its due to the soil conditions, lots of rock.
It's like a jungle up there!
Frank L Croston.: You are not kidding, Tom.
