Grand falls

Last week we visited this place, also known as the chocolate , or muddy falls, can't think why... on the Little Colorado river on the Navaho reservation, about an hours drive East of Flagstaff Arizona. Some pic's from our trip for the rest of the week.

I can't imagine what it is in the water to turn it orange Frank, but it sure is amazing
Frank L Croston.: Its just the soil it picks up, Chris, don't know the content, but our cars the same colour now!
Well worth a visit Frank.
Frank L Croston.: Oh it was, Michael, we enjoyed it very much.
I would call this amazing spectacle the rusty falls Frank.
Frank L Croston.: It has many names, Andrew, but they don't understand rust here. smile
Did you have a swim, Frank, a mud bath?
Frank L Croston.: You could easily have had a mud bath in the bottom, as some people had!

Oh my word! Just look at the colour of that water! How how is the nearest part of the fall? I'm guessing around 3 metres?
Frank L Croston.: Isn't it great, Alan...Oh, more than that, tomorrows pic' will give you some scale.
Another one of those fine quirks of nature round your way Frank, very impressive.
Frank L Croston.: A fascinating place, Brian, the river was diverted by a lava low which forced it over the cliffs.
That is quite something Frank. Is this colour due to iron in the water or something else?
Frank L Croston.: It's the colour of the soil it picks up Bill, I don't know whats in it though.
WOW Frank... it looks like a landslide... superb shot... looking forward to the series....petersmile
Frank L Croston.: Thanks very much, Peter.
I have never heard of this place. Thanks for sharing these great pics...
Frank L Croston.: When I first heard of it I thought it was just a small waterfall, how wrong can you be! Thanks, Larry, pleased to be able to share them.
