Smoke and bottle...

This place used to be called...I might have mentioned, ( Elizabeth also) that we had some snow last week, three feets worth actually, so I thought I'd show some photo's of it this week. All of them are taken in downtown Flagstaff.

Beyond my ken, Frank, but a fine image.
Frank L Croston.: I suppose not, Ray, thanks.
I love this shot, Frank! I think McGaugh's would too - you should take it into them!
Frank L Croston.: Thanks, Elizabeth. Maybe I will.

Très joli couleurs pour les drapeaux.
Frank L Croston.: Just about every colour there, Martine.

And very cold with it, too - look at those icicles!
Frank L Croston.: Oh yes, cold indeed, wait 'til tomorrow for icicles Elisabeth. smile
I love that they´re an inclusive shop, which makes the snow all that more welcome to me, Frank. smile I still can´t get over how much snow Flagstaff gets.
Frank L Croston.: Flagstaff is a very liberal place, Ginnie, one reason I like it. The snow seems to surprise a lot of people, but we have the 'snowbowl' on Mt Humphreys, and a nordic skiing place not far outside town.

This is quite dramatic isn't it. And over here we moan and the country grinds to a halt if we get half an inch of the stuff..
Frank L Croston.: It is, Chris, I've never seen as much. As you say this would have shut the U.K. down! Everyone just got on with it here, it caused a few problems of course, but in the main it was wrap up warm, and carry on.

Fabulous! Are those your's and Elizabeth's bikes outside? What was the temperature?
Frank L Croston.: Isn't it great, Alan, I think those bikes are just for decoration, ours are in the garage for now.
Spectacular icicles. Don't they do gutteridge in Flagstaff?
Frank L Croston.: Great aren't they, Bill... It's very strange, there is almost a complete lack of guttering here, I've asked Elizabeth about it and she says they just let it run into the ground, it is very odd, and when it's raining, or snow melting, like now, you have to watch where you walk or you'll get wet through!
Is that a gay pride flag in the middle.
Frank L Croston.: That it is, Michael, the other is the Arizona flag.
Lots of insulation against the cold.
Frank L Croston.: That's what you need, Mary.

This is a deep winter- and look at the icicles! Why three flags?
Frank L Croston.: Yes it is, though we are promised sunshine all week! Not really sure why, Philine, Stars and stripes, Gay pride, and the Arizona state flag, that covers everything smile
Those icicles are terrific, all this snow is obviously a bit of a novelty to you in your first full winter in Flagstaff. They said on TV last night that yesterday was the 70th.anniversary of the massive snowfalls we had on that day in 1947, you would have been about two weeks old, Maureen must have been a twinkle in her dads eye, she was born exactly 9 months later in October, I guess the snow kept her Mum and Dad at home during the evenings! By the way I was two and a half then but don't remember it.
Frank L Croston.: Wait 'til you see tomorrows icicles, Brian...1947...That rings a bell...smile I remember my dear Mum telling me about the snow back then. If I remember right, we have only had snow like we have here 3 or 4 times since then.
It looks good but I guess it must become a nuisance to have it after a while.
Frank L Croston.: Off the roads it still looks good, Martin, but it's looking pretty mucky and and the still frozen parts are very bumpy on the roads.

You definitely need thermals for this sort of weather!
Frank L Croston.: That you do, Anne, I wouldn't like to be out in it dressed normally.
love this old corrugated steel bar Frank...
it's good that they have icicles to hide the bars on the windows....petersmile
Frank L Croston.: Its a quirky place, Peter, the snow is melting now, so the bars will show.
pretty and dangerous...
Frank L Croston.: Slippin' and a slidin', Larry...
